Being a Dad: Surviving Christmas (The Christmas Wreath)

 Hello and Welcome Home,

Christmas Wreaths are something special...

Much like the Christmas Tree, the wreath was historically made from the evergreen tree as well, meaning that the wreath could mean something similar. While this is partially true, the deeper meaning comes from the way the wreath is created.

As many well know, a Christmas Wreath is usually created in the shape of a circle, thus giving it no beginning or end. Sometimes being a dad can feel the same way. I know I feel this way sometimes for sure. Our job is not an easy one by any means, we have just as much on our plates as our better halves do and that’s a lot.

However, this is a clear example as to why we need to really remember the meaning of The Christmas Wreath. The wreath is connected together. You may wonder “Where is he going with this,” well, isn’t having a family one of the most important aspects of being a dad? Are not families connected together?

Believe it or not, Surviving the Christmas season together as a family is not as hard as it may seem. Finding ways to embrace the holiday season as a family together can play a significant role in how we remember Christmas 2020 in the years to come.

Every moment of our present life is connected to a moment in the past as well as to another in the future. Each one of those moments can reveal a small part of what our family masterpiece is truly meant to be. As we embrace the coming days of celebration, we have the opportunity to add our own special strokes to that masterpiece as well.

Making memories together with our families is just as much a part of creating that masterpiece as the rest of our crazy lives. So this season, surviving Christmas can be as simple as taking the family out to pick out a Christmas Wreath to hang up in the places we all call home.

One of the best things being a dad has enabled me to do with my family is going to the tree farm each year the weekend after Thanksgiving to cut down our Tree. It is the first Christmas Tradition my Wife and I started together. There are many others as well and I am always looking for more.

Find those moments that connect your family together this Christmas Season.

Living by Faith, with my Family,

M.E.
